OSHIIP Senior Program and Partners Hosting "Welcome to Medicare" Events in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati
Seniors to turn 65 invited to learn about Medicare.
The Ohio Department of Insurance's Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) and partner organizations are holding pilot "Welcome to Medicare" events. Three have been held in Cleveland and Columbus, and one is planned for Cincinnati. The events are for invited Ohioans who will soon turn 65 so they can learn about Medicare.
The two-hour events feature a panel of experts from OSHIIP, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Social Security Administration (SAA), the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Department of Aging and Area Agencies on Aging, who discuss enrollment matters, patient rights, preventative services and more. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign-up to become an OSHIIP volunteer.
To attend the July 24 Welcome to Medicare event in Cincinnati, please contact Becky Sells at 1-800-686-1578 or becky.sells@ins.state.oh.us. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Union Township Community Center.
OSHIIP was founded in 1992 to provide Medicare beneficiaries with free, objective health insurance information and one-on-one insurance counseling. The program is funded in part by the state and by a grant from CMS. OSHIIP offers an array of services that are also used for persons with disabilities and for non-seniors.
