The Department of Insurance issues limited authority licenses to individuals for the following lines of insurance:
An appointment is not required at time of application, but is required in order to sell, solicit, or negotiate policies/information for a company. A licensed Title insurance agent or agency must appoint a Title Insurance Marketing Representatives applying for a limited authority license. This license cannot be issued to business entities. Persons holding a limited authority license are exempt from continuing education requirements. All limited lines authority licenses are renewed annually on September 1st. The license will automatically renew if the agent had an active limited lines appointment on July 1st of the same year. If no limited lines appointment was active on July 1st, then ODI will send a renewal notice to the mailing address on file. If ODI does not receive a renewal response from the agent by the due date on the notice, the limited authority license will be cancelled on September 1st for failure to renew.
