The Market Regulation Division conducts and examines insurance companies to confirm they are complying with the laws of the State of Ohio. Most regulatory reviews are initiated based on alleged patterns or practices reported to the division. The division then will investigate for possible violations of insurance rules & regulations contained within Title 39 of the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative Code. Depending upon the findings and recommendations of the examination, the Director of Insurance may order the company to take corrective action, assess a fine or other sanctions. The Market Regulation Division also handles issues regarding
prompt payment of health insurance benefits to providers (physicians,
