Why is the Department of Insurance moving?
Department officials made the decision to move downtown
in order to improve the efficiency of the Department.
Currently, Department employees work out of three different
buildings. Director Mary Jo Hudson believes that bringing
everyone together into one building and under one roof
will help everyone at the Department work together better
to serve the people of Ohio. The Lazarus Building is
in close proximity to the Statehouse and other State
agencies that partner with ODI, such as ODJFS and the
Department of Aging. It is also accessible to the Governor's
office and state legislators, many of whom rely on ODI
to assist with questions and concerns from Ohio consumers.
How will the move affect the services the Department
offers?
Department officials are taking measures to ensure the
least amount of disruption as possible. The Department
will have limited operations on Friday May 9, as we transfer
personnel and equipment to the new facility. The consumer,
fraud, and OSHIIP hotlines will remain open to assist
customers.
The majority of the move will take place over the weekend
when the Department would normally be closed. We will
resume full business operations on Monday, May 12. During
the move itself, you can still contact Department officials
through the Department's switchboard number, 614-644-2658.
You may also contact them via e-mail; however, they may
not be able to respond until Monday, May 12.
Those with questions about the move can email the Department's
communications staff at communications@ins.state.oh.us.
